About Janice

Personal

I was born and raised in Northern Virginia and graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh. I live with my husband Larry and two rescue dogs, Luna, and Sparkles, in Falls Church, VA. I have been a dog rescue advocate for nearly two decades, and I mentored three scholar-athletes with the Washington Nationals Youth Baseball Academy from 2013 until 2020.

Professional

I discovered my passion for event planning in 2002 while working with “social groups” at the Spirit of Washington. I transitioned to off-premise catering sales in 2004. It was here that I really cut my teeth on the DC events industry and learned what it took to build an event from the ground up. In 2006, I founded Bellwether Events, wanting to work from home with my dogs at my feet. I wrote and published The Elegant At-Home Wedding in 2013. I celebrated Bellwether Events’ first 10th wedding anniversary in 2017 and its 200th wedding in 2023
